Planning your last year of High School !!!

Where am I? What do I need to do?

 

This is a quick outline or checklist for seniors. Does it cover everything? Of course not. There is always more. It is a good tool for getting started. You should make your own list customized to your needs.

In the future, we will add links to various sections and have a "more in depth" description with more information.

 

1. On course for graduation!
    1. Meeting your requirements
    2. Passing classes
    3. Attendance
    4. Community Service – Do some!

 

2. Making Plans
    1. What career – interest vs. finances and ability.
    2. Make a Resume (now – list all work, activities, awards, anything and everything!).
    3. College -Do I go? Do I go next year? Where do I go? How do I pay?
    4. Vo-Tech School - same thing...
    5. Work - now, later, the rest of my life???
    6. Military (know what you are signing – get a guarantee for your job!).

 

3. Work Plans
    1. Look now
    2. What to do (find a job)
    3. Temporary or permanent (where do I want to go?).

 

4. Post Secondary School
    1. I’ve taken the A.C.T. (or the S.A.T.) - know what your future school requires...

i.   Test Dates for the ACT (click link)

    1. List of Schools – Choosing one;

i.   Does it have the degree I want?

ii. Do graduates get jobs? How much do they make?

iii.  Can I afford it? Is there Financial Aid?

iv.  Is it somewhere I want to be?

v. Narrow list to three to five by January.

vi.  Admissions / Financial Aid Deadline March 1

vii.   Know the scholarship, financial aid and admissions dates for the schools you are interested in!!!!!!!

viii.   Know the entrance requirements (do you meet them – look now – May will be too late!!!).

ix.  Multiple Admissions and Early Admission
